I remember a friend’s parents commenting, “She has a big imagination that Sheila!”  The Croglin series pays homage to that statement as an exploration back to my childhood and a journey through time to validate my “big imagination”.

Low Hall Farm is home to my childhood vampire and was my main focus. I wanted to reconnect with that vivid imagination and explore my memories once more. Arriving at the “Gateway” in daylight was a surprise as I discovered a detailed Roman archway. The dark shadows of my memory were replaced by rich, sandstone voussoirs opening out into far-reaching views.

As a six-year-old,I had no better start to cultivate my imagination. As an artist and printmaker, the exploration of ideas present and past is central to the development of my images.
