I remember a childhood friend’s parents commenting,“She has a big imagination that Sheila!” The Croglin series pays homage to that statement as an exploration back to my childhood and a journey through time to validate that “big imagination”.

My first stop was to revisit my childhood home,“The Folly”. As I looked up at my bedroom window I was acutely aware of the passing of time as I the adult gazed up to meet the outward-looking gaze of me the child. By chance, I met the occupant and it turned out to be the wife of my father's employer. It was a magical moment as I listened to her talk with great respect and fondness for my father and his gamekeeping. I was invited back into my childhood home and as I walked through the past, room by room the memories flooded through, rich and vivid.

As a six-year-old,I had no better start to cultivate my imagination.As an artist and printmaker, the exploration of ideas present and past is central to the development of my images.
